Top 10 TrollKing5 Levels (Super Mario Maker 2)

Since August 2019, TrollKing5 has been producing many levels for Super Mario Maker 2, and it’s time to finally (and publicly) acknowledge these creations. This list will feature the 10 best levels created and published by TrollKing5, based on his opinion. And with that, let’s begin.

#10: Time, Lava, and Claws (2019)

It wouldn’t be right to not include TrollKing5’s first Mario Maker 2 level in this ranking. Released in August 2019, the creative concept using the lava’s upward cability with vertical platforming was a genius idea, and made for a spectacularly fun level. Players must climb two vertical platforming sections while lava is coming from below. While it isn’t too hard, it is still fun. And since it was TrollKing5’s first level, it utilizes a lot of the new feature the game grants you, like the On/Off Switch, clear conditions, and more. Time, Lava, and Claws is a classic in TrollKing5’s library.

#9: Climbing Mount Ryan (2020-2022)

After 2 years and three updates, TrollKing5 has crafted a level with a neat but difficult concept. Inspired by Jay Dow‘s “Getting Over It” themed level from the first Mario Maker, Climbing Mount Ryan includes percise platforming insidde 1-block holes in tall walls to reach the top. Players climb 4 mountains, each one using a different block including ground, brick, music notes, and ice. The only real issue is that there are easy ways to cheat. Even though the first edition’s terrible design including easy wall-jumping and the first update’s change of theme and cheat to exit without doing anything and both being fixed in the third edition, it can still be played with a cheat, such as jumping far or even on top of blocks that touch the top. However, it’s still a fun level.

#8: Dunes of the Egyptian Desert (2021)

Arguably the most underappreciated TrollKing5 level. Its main gimmick is the beautiful scenery, but the level design itself it still pretty great, too. The level plays like a level from an actual Mario game: not too chaotic, more chill. The simple level has been praised under Ryan’s Fortress for its beauty, and yet the level design is still there, too. While the forest section does indeed seem out of place, the level as a whole is pretty wonderful and very underrated at that.

#7: Piranha Plant Field (2021)

Even though it was used in the cancelled TrollKing5 super world, Piranha Plant Field is loved for its great level design making it feel like a level in Super Mario Bros. 3. TrollKing5 even exclaimed it as his “crowning achievement. A spectacular evolution of level design in Mario Maker.” The fun platformer takes players into a desert space filled with piranha plants. Fun, fun, and more fun.

#6: Truh-Truh-TROOOOOOL (2021)

Not many TrollKing5 troll levels are great, but some are. Truh-Truh-TROOOOOL is an odd troll level with a twice-twice gimmick that confuses the player. However, once you complete the level, it’s basically over. The level isn’t very long, which isn’t a huge plus. Even though it is fun, it is a bit too short and also lacks memorable trolls.

#5: Sorry, Tyler: Superball? (2022)

Even though Truh-Truh-TROOOOL had its issues, TrollKing5 somehow evolved his troll level series with the sequel to the beloved Sorry, Tyler. Superball is a direct sequel to its predecessor, with more memorable trolls and a neat level design. It was released at a time of somewhat disappointing levels from TrollKing5, but Sorry, Tyler 2 really showed that TrollKing5 is still a great level creator. The only real problem is that the Superball power up isn’t utilized enough. Despite this, it’s still a great-designed level.

#4: A Master’s Chance 3 (2021)

Not many TrollKing5 sequels can say they lived up to the original, but Master’s Chance 3 gets as close as any TrollKing5 stage. The level significantly modifies the level design from the first two levels with 10 paths, each with a key-coin and a special challenge. The fun level is different, but still has that Master’s Chance feel to it.

#3: Link in the Mushroom Kingdom (2022)

Link in the Mushroom Kingdom is way better than it deserves to be. Take Dunes of the Egyptian Desert and throw in Link and you have Link in the Mushroom Kingdom. The fun platformer includes the Master Sword power-up and well-designed sections that utilize the power-up’s capabilities. The beautiful atmosphere and fun design makes this stage a must-play for any Legend of Zelda fan.

#2: The Night War: Part One: Ground (2019)

Another Mario 3-esc level, this stage was beloved for its unique ideas and simple but fun level design. It may not be the most difficult TK5 level to date, but it fun, and that’s what matters. While the rest of the series was fairly stale, the first level was so good it inspired other TrollKing5 levels and without it, TrollKing5 wouldn’t be the same.

#1: A Master’s Chance (2019)

The beloved Master’s Chance has to be on this list. The simple idea of a long obstacle course that completing proves you to be a master was unique, almost like a genius test. The level may not be too difficult, but the fun level design and neat sections make it top-tier TrollKing5. It’s still revisted by fans all the time, and is the most hearted TrollKing5 level to date. This level inspired future levels, evolved the way TrollKing5 makes Maker 2 levels, and effectively changed TrollKing5 forever, so it has to be #1.
