Top 5 Hopes for the February 2023 Nintendo Direct

A Nintendo Direct is likely to be coming in the next few weeks, and there is a lot of potential for this presentation. So many rumors, predictions, and speculations have come out of the hype that next month’s Direct might include. This presentation could be huge, with lots of new information as well as brand new games altogether. But what am I most excited about, and what do I hope will be included in this Direct? I’ve already started making a BINGO Board of my predictions, but what about what I want to see here? So here’s my top 5 hopes for the February 2023 Nintendo Direct – some plausible while some extremely farfetched.

Nintendo Is Ramping Up Switch Production Ahead of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom - IGN

#5: The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

The sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is fast approaching. The game is scheduled for release on May 12th of this year, which is very soon, yet we haven’t seen too much of the game. So far we’ve only seen a couple of vague trailers and the name reveal of Tears of the Kingdom in the last Direct. I really hope we’ll be able to discover more about this mysterious game in Nintendo’s next presentation. Even if we get a Direct focused only on this game, I still want something here.

Leaker claims a new 2D Mario game is in the works that will have a "surprising" new art style | GamesRadar+

#4: New 2D Super Mario Game

Listen, I’m not expecting anything from Super Mario in this Direct (other than DLC) but I can still hope for a miracle, right? The last few Mario games have all been 3D, and all we have on the 2D side are the repetitive and lacking New Super Mario Bros. games. I want a new 2D Mario game that isn’t in the ‘New Super Mario Bros’ series and possibly uses a unique concept we haven’t seen in the 2D series before. That would make for a really exciting announcement.

#3: Game Boy for Nintendo Switch Online

Nintendo Switch Online isn’t perfect, but who doesn’t love playing your favorite NES, SNES, N64, and Sega Genesis games, especially online? I sure do, and would love to see even more game libraries added in the future. I most want Game Boy or GBA, and I hope it’s announced in the next Direct. Game Boy has some fantastic games, and it would be awesome to play on the Switch. Whether I’d want them on the NSO Expansion is probably trivial since it definitely would be added to that part of the service, but I just want to play Game Boy games on my Switch, so I wouldn’t care.

#2: The Super Mario Bros. Movie Clip or Trailer

The Super Mario Bros. Movie is releasing in April, and while we’ve already gotten two trailers and a clip, I want one more trailer or clip before the film releases. Maybe it’ll be shown in this Direct – that’s my hope. Honestly, I don’t want a new trailer to give away any more storylines than the most recent trailer, as I’d like to be surprised when I see the film. I just want to see more of the movie. Is that too much to ask? Nintendo has never shown a movie trailer in a Direct before, but they did strangely reveal the film’s cast in the September 2021 Direct, so I believe anything is possible.

Pikmin 4 Officially Coming to Switch in 2023 | The Nerd Stash

#1: Pikmin 4

No matter what, I want Pikmin 4 information in this Direct. I’m a big fan of Pikmin and am very excited about the fourth installment and what it will change in the series. In the last Direct, Shigeru Miyamoto commented the game would have enhanced controls, a new camera focus, and new elements. I want to know all the new stuff the game has to offer, actual gameplay, and when I can get my hands on the game. Come on, just give me Pikmin 4!

And those are my top five hopes for the February 2023 Direct. Let me know of your hopes. When the Direct is announced, I’ll be posting my BINGO Board and a reaction on my YouTube channel, plus more posts afterward, so stay tuned!
