All 12 Hersheypark Coasters RANKED Worst to Best (w/ Jolly Rancher Remix)

I just revisited Hersheypark in Pennsylvania, and it’s still my favorite theme park in the world. Part of that is nostalgia since I used to come here every Halloween when I was a kid, but part of that is because of its impressive coaster lineup. Now I’m a thrillseeker, and can personally say that after going on every main coaster at the park, Hersheypark has one of the best roller coaster lineups, with some for everyone and some for daredevils like me. So, after ride all 12, here is my ranking of them from worst to best. This list does include the new Jolly Rancher Remix, and I’ll add Wildcat’s Revenge once it opens in the summer. And by the way, this does not include waterpark rides. And with that out of the way, let’s begin.

Wild Mouse (Hersheypark) - Wikipedia

#12: Wild Mouse

Listen, I love thrill rides, so just know that some of the tamer rides at Hersheypark are going to be lower on this list. However, I have know idea how anyone could like Wild Mouse coasters. The Hershey coaster is no different to any others, but in my opinion none are fun. The Wild Mouse coasters are kids rides known for their very sharp turns and bumpy track layout. These sharp turns are very uncomfortable for me in a small car, and I have never enjoyed this coaster or any versions of it.

Hersheypark - Trailblazer

#11: Trailblazer

While there aren’t any hard, jerking turns on this coaster, Trailblazer is a more typical theme park family coaster. Trailblazer is a tame but enjoyable ride fun for anyone. It isn’t very fast, but is the perfect amount of thrill for families. The coolest part for me was riding right next to Storm Runner. The only thing I personally disliked about the coaster was the car as its designed caused by legs to constantly hit bars on either side of me. However, this wouldn’t be an issue for the car’s target driver, kids. Trailblazer is a perfect family coaster at Hersheypark.

Hersheypark: Riding the edge for 10 years on Skyrush

#10: Skyrush

Skyrush at #10 is probably the most unpopular opinion I have on this list, but I have my reasons. My experience with Skyrush was pretty forgettable, along with a slight headache. The way the cars were designed was odd, and the constant banking of the track layout caused me to hit my head on a metal bar a couple of times, which wasn’t pleasant. Despite my experience, the coaster is pretty uninspired. The track layout is simple, with no interesting details. I know that not every ride should, but Skyrush definitely could use some pizzazz with inversions like loops and corkscrews, but all it has are banks and large turns. I did think the car arrangement was neat with the outside seats in each row lacking ground, which makes it feel like Great Bear since your legs are dangling. But otherwise, not a must-ride attraction at Hersheypark.

Celebrating 45 years of thrills on sooperdooperLooper

#9: SooperDooperLooper

A classic Hersheypark roller coaster that gave many people their first experience with a loop. Despite the name, SooperDooperLooper only includes a single loop, and it was honestly the worst-feeling loop for me at the park. I don’t know why, I think it was just the weird swoosh as you head through or maybe its small size, but it was ironically my least favorite part of the attraction. The rest of SooperDooperLooper is pretty traditional with twists and turns and stuff like that. There is a part where you go into a tunnel, but otherwise the attraction is pretty lacking. Plus, you can definitely feel the age of the ride as its probably the roughest roller coaster at Hersheypark.

Lightning Racer (Coasters race!) - Picture of Hersheypark - Tripadvisor

#8: Lightning Racer

Don’t worry if you never got to ride the original Wildcat before it closed, because Lightning Racer is pretty much the same as it’s just Wildcat but a higher drop and different layout. Lightning Racer is a 1 v 1 coaster, being thunder versus lightning. Both tracks are fun, and the coaster overall is a pretty typical wooden rollercoaster. It’s fun, yet pretty standard.

#7: Comet

Compared to other wooden coasters at Hersheypark, Comet stands out for being more family-friends as well as looking and feeling like a classic boardwalk amusement park roller coaster like Cyclone at Coney Island. Comet has many fun drops and turns, while being simple at the same time. The wooden coaster is tame enough to be fun for families, and the drops definitely feel very nice. However, like the other wooden coasters at the park, Comet is not a smooth experience and can get pretty rough. Not as much as Lightning Racer (or the old Wildcat), but still a bit bumpy. Comet is a classic, and another fun Hersheypark family coaster.

Hersheypark's Laff Trakk to combine spinning coaster, funhouse laughs – Orlando Sentinel

#6: Laff Track

In my opinion, Laff Track is the perfect attraction at Hersheypark for all ages. Anyone can ride it and love it. It’s a ride that you just want to go on again and again. Laff Track is the only indoor roller coaster at Hersheypark, and is themed to a fun house. The show building is small, but Laff Track takes full advantage of the space with many colorful neon decorations all around you. The ride itself is smooth, and the short drops are very exhilarating. Plus, you can ride backwards or forwards in the car; but don’t expect to be one way for long and the car does spin. Not too fast so you won’t be dizzy, though. Laff Track is a very fun and enjoyable coaster for families – just try to get to it first as it always has the longest lines.

Hersheypark announces 2 new Jolly Rancher rides for Summer 2022 - 6abc Philadelphia

#5: Jolly Rancher Remix

Sidewinder is a classic Hersheypark roller coaster, and I was excited to see what modifications and upgrades it would get as the Jolly Rancher brand took it over. And well, besides a new paint job and a small tunnel, it’s pretty much the same attraction we remember. Despite that, the “remixed” ride is still fun. You start by going up a hill backwards, than dropping forwards and heading through loops and corkscrews before up another hill and doing the entire thing again backwards. It’s still as fun as always, but I definitely woul have liked to see more meaninful changes.

#4: Fahrenheit

In my opinion, you can’t go to Hersheypark without experience that giant orange roller coaster seen from the parking lot. Fahrenheit starts by going straight up at 97 degrees. It’s the fourth-tallest roller coaster at the park, but it isn’t just a straight-up climb. Following the drops are a bunch of twists and turns to satisfy any thrillseeker out there. Fahrenheit is definitely an incredibly fun ride with many fun parts.

Storm Runner - Wikipedia

#3: Storm Runner

Some say Storm Runner is the scariest Hershey attraction, but it really isn’t as bad as most of the other coasters. After the launch, it’s pretty standard. However, the launch of Storm Runner is definitely the best part. You’ll launch at high speeds forward and up a hill before plummeting down. Now I’ve ridden Kingda Ka at Six Flags, and I can safely say that while slower and tamer, Storm Runner is undoubtebly much smoother and fun. After the drop are loops and corkscrews, but not too much. It’s all around a pretty great roller coaster.

Chocolatetown Coaster | Hersheypark

#2: Candymonium

The newest roller coaster at the park (not including Jolly Rancher Remix), Candymonium is really well designed in many ways. It’s the perfectly backdrop to the new Chocolatetown area, and looks like it’s made of chocolate. What’s wrong with that? And the ride itself is great too. Now ahead of Skyrush’s height at 210 feet, Candymonium is the tallest roller coaster at Hersheypark. The ride includes multiple drops, and they are all very enjoyable. It was actually kind of scary since it feels like the car is being lifted off the track, but that just adds to the excitement. And props to Hershey for designing a harness that’s just a giant block that molds perfectly with you legs. Even if the car didn’t move, I’d probably still put the ride high on this list. (* That was a joke)

Sweet Stories From @HersheyPA

#1: Great Bear

I’ve ridden an inverted (or feet-dangling) roller coaster before, such as Batman at Six Flags or Alpengeist at Busch Gardens, but neither compare to Great Bear. Smooth, the most fun loops and corkscrews of all the Hersheypark attractions, and of course, inverted coasters are just fantastic. Great Bear is definitely a well-designed coaster that you’ll want to go on again and again. It’s that fun and definitely the best roller coaster at Hersheypark.

So what are your favorite rides at Hersheypark? Let me know in the comments.
