Ryan’s Fortress Direct – A What?

What is a Ryan’s Fortress Direct?

If you’ve never heard of a Nintendo Direct, they are video presentations Nintendo shows that announces upcoming games and products from the company between 30 and 50 minutes, usually one in the spring (February, March) one in summer for E3 (June) and one in fall (September, October). These are great ways to show what coming out from Nintendo without waiting for E3, and have evolved from 10 minute videos showing updates on select titles to multi-media video peresentation that comnpletely replaced E3 in 2013. Now, I’m making my own versions of these.

The Nintendo Direct held on March 8th of 2018, personally my favorite Nintendo Direct since they began in 2011.

While mine isn’t high-quality, has no animations, and no footage of the announcements, I wanted a way to announce new levels coming to my Super Mario Maker 2 account (check the ‘about me’ page for my maker ID). Originally, I released levels with block-lettering of levels coming soon, but I didn’t like that. So with a lot of time on PowerPoint, I created my own Nintendo Direct: Ryan’s Fortress Direct. I will release it sometime in January (aiming for last week of January) on my YouTube channel and release a post here with the video embeded in. Also, if you don’t want to watch the spectacular video and miss out on the build up to certain announcements, I will release a list of what was announced on a post later that day. It will showcase both upcoming posts for this website and new levels I’m creating for Super Mario Maker 2. So in the far future when I make more, I’ll have a category for “Ryan’s Fortress Directs” that will include every Direct I’ve made plus this post and posts I’ll publish that announce an upcoming Direct.

Level Updates

Some announcements will be for ‘level updates’. These are me fixing, or sprucing up the level by deleting it, doing stuff with it, and rereleasing it as an updated version of the level (named that level Version whatever). So if you see your favorite level from me gone, just know it’s probably getting updated and will only be gone for, at most, an hour. The only times I delete a level are if they aren’t popular and are wasting space.

If you have any further questions about these directs, please comment down below or through YouTube. Expect the first coming late January!
