We’re now in 2023, and there’s so many big movies releasing throughout the year. So, let’s go over my most anticipated movies releasing in the next year. What movies are you most excited for in 2023? Let me know in the comments section.

The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 trailer teases one final adventure | EW.com

#6: “Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 3” (2023)

Marvel’s latest films haven’t been great, but I have hope for some of 2023’s lineup, including Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 3 releasing on May 5th, 2023. While we don’t know too much about the film since we just have a single teaser trailer, we do know a few things including James Gunn directing, the return of Gamora, and so much more that should all make for some interesting implications for the movie, and I’m really excited for it.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods' trailer brings destruction to the Phillies stadium in South Philly | PhillyVoice

#5: “Shazam: Fury of the Gods” (2023)

I’m not a huge fan of DC, but I am excited for the next Shazam! movie. I really liked the first Shazam! movie, and am interested in the inclusion of the gods and the bigger DCEU connection this entry seems to be. Okay, maybe I just want to see powerful gods battle Shazam at Citizens Bank Park since that’s literally the coolest thing ever, but the film overall still looks great.

Spider-Verse 2's Villain is 'One of the Deepest Cuts in Spider-Man's Rogues Gallery' - IGN

#4: “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse: Part One” (2023)

Being a big fan of Spider-Man and the 2018 film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, the sequel seems to be even better with more Spider Men being included and a larger-scale story. Plus, that first film was just fantastic, and it looks like its sequel can’t be bad at all. This is one Spider-Man film that I am highly anticipating.

The Marvels: 3 Additional Writers Revealed for Captain Marvel Sequel

#3: “The Marvels” (2023)

It might be the only film on this list we haven’t seen any footage of and know barely anything about it, but that doesn’t mean I can’t be excited for it. Captain Marvel was such a fun movie and an interesting character, especially after Endgame, and Ms. Marvel was an enjoyable TV show with another interesting character. Plus, we know they are somehow connected based off of that crazy end-credit scene from the Disney+ show, meaning this movie has to be an intriguing one.

Pixar Unveils First Plot Details, Concept Art for New Film 'Elemental'

#2: “Elemental” (2023)

Pixar’s last couple of films haven’t been fantastic, at least for me. While 2021’s Luca and last year’s Turning Red were fun movies, they didn’t feel like what PIxar is known for. Elemental seems to be a returning-to-form movie with a unique plot, creative setting, and more. The film looks beautiful; I mean that original concept art has been my phone’s wallpaper since it was revealed! I’m also excited to see the direction of newcoming director Peter Sohn. Elemental is just a movie with so much to be intrigued about.

Super Mario Bros Movie Second Trailer is Full of New Details - GameRevolution

#1: “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” (2023)

While I am excited for the lineup of movies from Marvel and Pixar, my favorite movie studios, the movie I’m most excited for in 2023 is based off of my favorite game series: Mario. After the two released trailers and the Game Awards clip, I’m really excited to see the direction this adaptation will head in, especially since the story is still a bit unknown. But with the confirmation of Peach’s Castle, Tanooki Mario, Fire Peach, Donkey Kong as well as a fight against Mario, plus 2D levels and even Mario Kart, this seems to be the biggest animated movie of 2023. I am a little nervous about the kids-movie direction Illumination will take, but despite that it’s still my most anticipated movie of 2022.
