With the long-awaited arrival of the epic Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, it’s finally time to rank all ten Spider-Man movies. This list includes the Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, Tom Holland, and Spider-Verse movies. And without further ado, let’s begin. Spoilers if you haven’t seen any of these movies.

#10: “The Amazing Spider-Man” (2012) 3.6/6
As far as alternative Spider-Man origin movies go, The Amazing Spider-Man is definitely the least appealing to me. I was also never fond of Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man, since he never felt like the nerdy, weird teenage Peter Parker. Plus, Lizard was a pretty stupid villain if you ask me and it felt unfortunate for a new Spider-Man movie.

#9: “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” (2014) 3.9/6
Lots of people like to hate on The Amazing Spider-Man 2, especially in comparison to the first movie — however, I felt the sequel was much more entertaining and Electro is so much cooler than Lizard. It definitely isn’t still a good movie, but it is much more entertaining in my opinion. Plus, did the first movie have a death scene as dramatic and heartbreaking at Gwen Stacy’s fall in the clock tower? No. However, with Amazing Spider-Man 2, I didn’t like seeing Green Goblin again. If they wanted a side villain next to Electro, I wish it was a villain we hadn’t seen in the movies yet. But otherwise, this movie (while still not good) shouldn’t get nearly as much hate as it gets.

#8: “Spider-Man 3” (2007) 4/6
Here’s another entertaining Spider-Man movie that everyone likes to hate on. Now listen, I can understand why. Outside of the slim and mixed storyline and weird character developments, there are some things that make this movie unlikeable. The terrible Venom story, the Spider-Strut, Harry’s weird growth into Green Goblin, and lots of other weird moments. While it is still cool to see Venom, especially since this was the first movie with Venom, it would have been even cooler to see Sony do the Venom origin right. Instead, you get a movie with an awkward Venom origin, too many villains, and many unfinished plot lines. However, it’s still entertaining enough.

#7: “Spider-Man: Homecoming” (2017) 4.2/6
This is where the ranking starts to get hard since the rest of the Spider-Man movies are all seen as very good additions to the Spider-Man lineup. The MCU’s first Spider-Man movie felt like a typical Spider-Man film with the MCU feel. This doesn’t mix great, especially with the fact that Peter’s Spider-Man suit is pretty much a slightly toned-down Iron Man suit. It wasn’t as fun to see this, outside of Peter’s funny conversations with his electronic assistant, Karen. Michael Keaton is great as Vulture and this movie has a lot of that charm from the Tobey Maguire trilogy that the Andrew Garfield movies seemed to lack. Outside of the overpowered Spider-suit, this is a pretty great Spider-Man movie.

#6: “Spider-Man” (2002) 4.5/6
In my opinion, one of the best superhero origin movies. The original Tobey Maguire film does a fantastic job of introducing Peter Parker and how he becomes Spider-Man. Maguire is also perfect as Peter Parker and his quirkiness and nerdiness definitely feels like the teenage superhero. Willem Dafoe is excellent as Green Goblin, acting as both scary and sympathetic.

#5: “Spider-Man: Far From Home” (2019) 4.6/6
Far From Home gets so much more hate than it deserves. While it isn’t perfect, it definitely is a fantastic Spider-Man movie with lots of action, surprises, and a great villain. Mysterio is really neat and Jake Gyllenhaal does a great job of turning from someone who wants to help Peter into a villainous hoax that wants to be known as a hero. Far From Home is full of twists and turns, very weird moments, and even the final battle on the Tower Bridge in London. What’s not to love? While the story does feel a bit underdone at times, Far From Home is overall one of the most entertaining and exciting Spider-Man movies on this list.

#4: “Spider-Man 2” (2004) 4.8/6
One of the best superhero sequels of all time, Spider-Man 2 does a great job of expanding the character introduced in the previous film while also making for an enjoyable second adventure with the web-slinging hero. Doc-Ock is introduced as the villain this time, and his origin is done very well. There’s also a lot of cool action sequences here, especially the iconic train save. However, I never liked the plot point in which Peter Parker has a ‘mental web block’ in which is mentally disturbed state causes him to temporarily lose his powers. However, the rest of the movie is fantastic.

#3: “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” (2018) 5.3/6
When I first saw the teaser for this movie back in 2017, I was very confused but also very intrigued — and those expectations were definitely exceeded. The first Spider-Man multiverse movie was an incredible adventure with multiple Spider-Men, including fan-favorite Miles Morales, along with a storyline full of heart, action, and so much more. The impact Spider-Verse has is groundbreaking, and the animation is spectacularly beautiful. Definitely one of my favorite non-Disney animated movies.

#2: “Spider-Man: No Way Home” (2021) 5.5/6
Though it was long-rumored and pretty much known by the time the movie came out, seeing 3 generations of Spider-Man in one film fighting 3 generations of Spider-Man villains was truly amazing. Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland came together to fight the multiverse in one of the most epic Spider-Man movies of all time. The story is pretty great, although the beginning of the movie is fairly simple and less interesting. Overall though, No Way Home is definitely a great celebration of Spider-Man and one of the best movies featuring the web-slinger.

#1: “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” (2023) 5.9/6
The newest Spider-Man movie is definitely one of most epic and exciting, especially compared to No Way Home. Hundreds of Spider-Man, tons and tons of references, and a great film overall to top it all off. Across the Spider-Verse also gets the award undoubtedly for most visually stunning with incredible animation and effects. The newest Spider-Man movie has definitely proven to be one of the best for the Spider-based superhero, and takes the #1 spot on this list.
