Top 5 Most Surprising Plot Twists in Pixar Movies

Pixar Animation Studios’ movies are known for many things — one of those being plot twists. Some Pixar twists are more common reveals in cinema, while some are incredibly surprising and unexpected. So, here are, in my opinion, the top 5 most unexpected Pixar movie plot twists. Of course, plot points of these Pixar films will be revealed. SPOILERS!

The Incredibles 2 AMV - Who Are You Really? (Helen/Evelyn Deavor) - YouTube

#5: Evil Endeavor – “Incredibles 2” (2018)

While Incredibles 2 doesn’t have as good of a story as most were hoping for, Pixar did do a good job with the villain, revealing Evelyn Deavor to actually be the villain. They also did a great job with explaining Evelyn’s reasoning, wanting to end superheroes because her father died relying on superheroes to save them during a home robbery instead of finding a place to hide.

In Incredibles (2004), the first time Buddy Pine AKA 'Incrediboy' is introduced, Mr. Incredible says 'you're the kid from the convention... B-B-Brodie... B-B-Buddy!'. This is a reference to Incrediboy's voice actor Jason

#4: Incrediboy Becomes Syndrome – “The Incredibles” (2004)

While it wasn’t quite as big of a plot twist since it’s revealed the first time we see him, Syndrome being Incrediboy, the annoying superfan of Mr. Incredible from the beginning of the movie, was totally unexpected. It seemed like Incrediboy was just going to appear in the start of the film, but Mr. Incredible’s disrespect toward the fanboy turned him against his hero, resulting in major events the rest of the movie.

Why Lotso From Toy Story 3 Actually Had A Point

#3: Lotso’s Rules – “Toy Story 3” (2010)

Lotso seemed like a funny, welcoming teddy bear when we first met him in Toy Story 3, but he was revealed to be a dark villain quickly. Lot-so-Huggin’ Bear became known as the ruler of Sunnyside Daycare quickly as he turned Buzz Lightyear against the toys, locking them in cages (or in this case, trapping them in baskets on shelves). His story was unexpected as well, going from a favorite toy to a replaced teddy bear.

Only Adults Can Spot These Details In Up

#2: The Truth of Charles Muntz – “Up” (2009)

Up has so many shocking parts, but none were as shocking as when Carl Fredrickson’s hero, Charles Muntz, was revealed to be an evil man that just wanted to take a bird to popularize himself again. Muntz even had other explorers try to take the bird for themselves, and the movie makes us infer that he killed them because of it. I know this is all very dark, but did Charles Muntz deserve to fall from the sky to his apparent demise? Let me know your thoughts in the comments.

Animation Nation: The complexity of "Coco" hot dad, Héctor Rivera - JUST ADD COLOR-Affirming Ourselves Through Entertainment

#1: Hector Rivera – “Coco” (2017)

Two twists in one? Why not! In one of the best moments of Coco, the largely famous Ernesto De La Cruz is revealed to have killed Hector and then stole his music to become extremely popular before we are told that Hector and Miguel are both family as Hector is Miguel’s great grandmother Coco’s dad. It’s a sweet realization, while also being one of the most unexpected plot twists in Disney history.
