Now that it is 2023, we are halfway through Mario Kart 8 Deluxe’s DLC called Booster Course Pass. Since its announcement in February 2022, six waves of eight courses would be released until the end of 2023. So far, three waves have been released, and now that Wave 4’s announcement is probably coming soon, it’s time for my predictions of the courses we will get in the next few months. So, here’s my predictions for Waves 4 of the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass.
The fourth wave of the Booster Course Pass is probably releasing next month in March 2023, and will most likely show off some of its eight tracks in the next Nintendo Direct. But what tracks? Well, after close examination of the first three waves’ tracks and Mario Kart Tour’s lineup, I discovered a pattern: in 2022, each of the three waves had three Tour tracks with two being based on real-world cities and one being an entirely new one. I also noticed that the other tracks are one from each of the other Mario Kart games — except for Double Dash. Well, I have some ideas for all three waves about this. Also, every cup so far has excluded a course from one Mario Kart game, except for Wave 3 which excluded a track from both Mario Kart 64 and Super Mario Kart to make room for two Mario Kart 7 courses.

For Wave 4, I think the two World-Tour tracks from Mario Kart Tour will be Los Angeles Laps and Singapore Speedway. The other Tour track I believe will be the all-new course recently announced called Piranha Plant Cove. Then there’s the other courses, which I think will continue the trend of one course from every game except for Double Dash, which I’ll get to why later.

Anyway, I think N64’s input will be Koopa Troopa Beach. I think this course has become popular enough that it could be featured here, especially with the other water courses like Cheep Cheep Beach and Water Park. I want more here, too, with more shortcuts, tricks, and just more interesting additions in general. I think Mario Kart 7’s recreation of the course is a good sample of what a Mario Kart 8 recreation could look like.

For Super Mario Kart, I can see a remaster of Bowser Castle 3. Like with Donut Plains 3 and Mario Circuit 3, it seems right to have Bowser’s Castle 3 with its unique added inclusion of shortcuts compared to the other Super Mario kart courses, and some neat things could be implemented for Mario Kart 8.
After that there’s Mario Kart: Super Circuit, which has a pretty varied track collection. Of them, I think we’ll get Sunset Wilds. Honestly, this track is one of my favorites in Mario Kart, and I think it deserves a remake in Mario Kart 8. There’s some neat ideas here that seem like they can be expanded on perfectly with anti-gravity like with Boo Lake. I think Mario Kart Tour can also give a good demonstration of what the course could be like in Mario Kart 8.

Next, for Mario Kart DS, I think we’ll get Delfino Square, one of my favorite Mario Kart DS tracks and one of my favorite remakes from Mario Kart Wii. This track seems perfect to recreate in Mario Kart 8, especially since there’s so much potential on what new stuff could be added with all of the new Mario Kart 8 additions like anti-gravity, gliders, and especially driving underwater. It seems like there’s so much here and so much that could make sense, so I think we’ll get Delfino Square in Wave 4.
Then onto Mario Kart Wii, which I think we’ll receive a recreation of DK Summit, or at least in a similar aspect to Mario Kart Tour’s remake. With what interesting stuff was added and returned to Mario Kart 8 with Wii Maple Treeway in Wave 3, DK Summit seems like a perfect next course to include. It seems like it would be perfect with anti-gravity and glider sections out of all Mario Kart Wii’s tracks, and would fit perfectly in Mario Kart 8 with Mount Wario.

For Mario Kart 7, I don’t think we’ll see any tracks from that game here. I think this wave will feature some older tracks, plus the fact that Mario Kart 7 had two inclusions in Wave 3 makes me believe it won’t appear in the fourth set.

Next is my wild theory for Wave 6. I think it will be a bit different from Waves 1-5, and here’s why: the Acorn Cup will feature four classic GCN courses and the Spiny Cup will feature the other four Rainbow Roads being GBA, GCN, Wii, and DS. I’ll talk more about this theory in the future, but I feel like Wave 6 will be a bit more exciting than the other five.
So, those are my Wave 4 and 6 theories. Let me know which tracks you predict and/or want to come from the Booster Course Pass below.
